Needle Felting Fun!
Have you tried Needle Felting Before? Are you looking for a fun new craft? Needle Felting is the process of taking different colors of wool, using barbed needles and your imagination or inspiration to create fun shapes, animals, and holiday decor. Its a great craft for kids and adults (Wear finger guards and supervise the kiddos, those barbed needles are sharp!)
How does it work? Wool has fine scales on each strand and as you use the barbed needles to stab the wool into more wool, it felts or tangles the wool together. The more you stab it, the firmer the wool connects to itself (felting together) and the smaller, firmer, and denser your Needle Felted creation becomes!
Would you like to Try? You need to get a starters kit, basic items needed are Needle Felting Pad (the needles are fragile don’t work on a hard surface), Needle Felting Needles (at least 2-3 sizes), FINGER GUARDS - don’t skip these, believe me I know from experience ;-), and Wool!
There are lots of kits out there and lots of different kinds of felting pads, some are styrofoam (these break down quickly), some are made of wool (sometimes your project can stick to them), my personal favorite is burlap filled with rice. You can buy one of our starter kits by clicking on Add to Cart to the left. It includes everything you need to get started, a beginners instruction sheet with photos, and a good amount of wool, white and 5 other colors all naturally hand dyed from our Rambouillets and other local sheep.
Once you have the Starter Kit and use the wool that came with it, if you love the craft and want to continue creating, you can purchase kits that come with just the wool needed to make the pictured items, 3 needle felting needles, and instructions! We currently carry a Ranch Animals and Snowman kits.
